Getting Married? Make the Most of It with Smart Planning

Weddings can be quite expensive. In fact, the latest surveys show that the average cost of a wedding is now close to $28,000. While getting married can be an expensive proposition, it doesn't have to hurt your wallet as bad as you think. From sending invitations to hiring a DJ, there are plenty of opportunities to trim costs while still creating a memorable event.

It really comes down to priorities. If the wedding cake isn't that important to you or your partner, does it make sense to go out and spend $1,000 on a fancy designer cake? Probably not. Depending on what parts of the wedding you see as most important, you can focus your money on things that really matter, and save on other areas.
