What Health Insurance Options Do You Have After Termination or Early Retirement?

If you're a full-time employee, chances are health insurance is one of the benefits available to you. If you choose to take advantage of this benefit, you probably understand that it can be a pretty important benefit to have. While you still pay a portion of the premium, it is usually much less than you would have to pay on your own.

But what happens when you lose your job or decide to retire before Medicare kicks in? For many people, this can be a big problem. Most people will have the following options to consider:
  • Enroll in your spouse's plan if married.
  • Utilize COBRA coverage.
  • Find an individual health plan.
  • Seek early-retiree coverage if available.
