Poll: Are Gas Prices Affecting Your Summer Vacation Plans?

Saturday June 7, 2008
With gas prices at or above $4 per gallon in most places, there has been a lot of discussion on how this will impact summer driving. For those families that might be loading up their SUV or van and driving hundreds, of miles, the high cost of gas can put a significant dent in the budget. Other people seem to be going about their business without much concern for the higher prices.

So, are gas prices changing your plans this summer? Will you be staying closer to home for vacation, or will you pay the price to keep your plans intact? Feel free to leave a comment in this poll and share your thoughts, or even ways people can save money on their gas bill this summer.

I was planning on taking a family trip to Myrtle Beach. Now I am staying closer to home and going to Ocean City or VA Beach.

We are rediscovering what is closer to home. We plan on making hiking trips around the village with no car involved and walking to the river to fish with the kids, when we can. There will no major trips this summer.

My husband and I had been planning an early July camping trip to our favorite park about four hours away. We have canceled our plans because of significantly higher transportation costs. We will now be staying home.
