Credit card debt is one of the biggest problems most people face when trying to get a handle on their finances. Credit cards make it easy to spend more money than you have, and then the crippling interest rates and fees make it seem impossible to get out from under. While there isn't an instant cure for credit card debt, there are steps you can take to put yourself on a path to becoming debt free.

It takes a little planning, a little budgeting, and some time, but if you keep at it you'll find that you're getting out of debt faster than you had imagined. Here's the process to help you eliminate your credit card debt.

The first step is to figure out what got you to this point in the first place. When you can sit up straight, look in the mirror and point the full blame on yourself, then you’ll be ready to set yourself free from the bondage of late charges, interest, and out of control spending – -the vicious cycle that has caused the borrower to become a slave to the lender.

What is the best help with credit cards?

Stop it! :-)

I have been in deep, $20,000 the first time, $14,000 this time. To get rid of the 20,000 we added to our mortgage. This time I’m working hard to pay it off. I no longer use the cards. I destroyed them. Don’t tell the credit card company or they will send you new ones! Really take the time to understand why you are using the cards, what you’re buying with them. Sit down , write your budget now. Then use cash. That makes it almost impossible to not get out of debt. What a relief it will be.
