News About Debby's Latest Projects

People often ask me what I've been working on, besides my job as an accountant and the freelance writing I do for two About.com Web sites (this Financial Planning site and the Portland, Maine site) and other publications. Well, in my spare time, I've written two books - "Everything Personal Finance in Your 20s and 30s", published by Adams Media, and "1000 Best Smart Money Secrets for Students," released in August 2005 by Sourcebooks.

My personal finance articles have appeared in a number of online and print publications, including:

Three-part Question and Answer interview for Fidelity’s "Investor's Weekly” Web site:

  • "How To Move Beyond Paycheck-to-Paycheck Living" (May 7, 2004)
  • "Tying the Knot: When Financial Lives Unite" (June 11, 2004)
  • "How to Dig Out From Credit Card Debt" (March 15, 2004)

Reprint of the Fidelity Investments articles published in Fidelity’s award-winning print magazine, “Stages,” in the Fall 2004 issue

"Home Equity Loans: Look Before You Leap” for Loan to Learn’s online Financial Aid Guide – Articles from the Experts (August 2004)

Interviewed for a “Financial Makeover” article for the Shapeover column of Shape Magazine published in the January 2005 issue

Guest columnist for Bookmark Magazine’s “What One Book” column about personal finance books, in the Jan/Feb 2005 issue

Reprint of “Ways to Save Money: Your Home,” published in Nurse Magazine

Interviewed for various articles about personal finance, including: “Financial Prosperity Starts With a Budget," Spartanburg Herald-Journal, “Advanced Training: College Freshmen and Budgeting the Dollar,” Military Lifestyle and a special personal finance section published by Associated Press

Interviewed and quoted as a financial expert for several forthcoming financial books, including:

  • "How To Be a Budget Fashionista," by Kathryn Finney, to be published in 2006 by Random House.
  • "50 Things Every Guy Should Know How To Do," to be published in 2006 by Plume/Penguin. The book is based on interviews with experts and celebrities, including U.S. Senator Joseph Leiberman. I was interviewed on how to get out of debt.

Interviewed on the CBS Portland, Maine affiliate television station about staying out of credit card debt and about my frist book "Everything Personal Finance in Your 20s and 30s"
