How I Deal With the Stress (a response to Suzanne's post)

Tuesday January 31, 2006

I would like to try to respond to a few of the emails I get from people. I realize there is no way to respond to them all... This one is to Suzanne who asked me how I deal with the stress of it all.

Well, believe me, it is not easy!!! Sometimes it feels like it is just too much, but somehow I pull myself through it, with a lot of help and support from friends.

When I'm really feeling like I just can't take it, I call my best friend and she helps me to see the positive side of things I have going. I do realize I did this to myself and I know that I am responsible for paying back what I spent. That's why I dont want to file bankruptcy.

But I also feel that the credit card companies could be a little more cooperative if they have someone who is willing and wants to pay back the money. They have not been very nice to me at all. I am determined to do this. Looking at the budget that my financial consultant helped me work up, it really does look like if I stick to this then I really can do it.... ~ Mary

It sounds like you are doing the right thing; but there are anumber of consumer creit counseling companies that are not there to rip you off. They somehow negotiate your debt with the credit card companies, and you pay them, and they pay the bills.

Either way, best of luck. We’ve all been there.

Awareness was the first step I took toward going from 14 creditors to 1 in the last five years. I did not go through it alone, I joined debtors anonymous and made a committment, one day at a time to stop incurring new unsecured debt. This has worked for me.
